The
WCARC repeater, N5TT, is located a few miles West of Georgetown, and
covers the entire county. The Club repeater is on 146.640 (Minus offset
PL=162.2 Hz).
If you are the
organizer of a Public Service Event such as a Bike Race or Fun Run and
would like to use the Club Repeater contact the WCARC Repeater Trustee
to coordinate it's use.
The
repeater sends a "W" courtesy"beep" when a Weather alert/ emergency is
in effect. The other beep you may hear is "B" for battery operation
which happens when we lose power. A "W" beep in effect gets overridden
by a power failure which changes the courtesy beep to a "B".
When
we lose power and go to batteries, the repeater goes from 25W to 5W to
save battery life. In this mode, we can easily go for 4 days of very
heavy use. (The battery will last 8 days with zero use) Current drain
is about 0.5A on receive and 5.5A on transmit at 25W and about 2.25A at
5W.
